Hello Floyd Middle Magnet Family,

You may have noticed advertisements that read 'Vote for Montgomery Public Schools' on social media channels, local billboards, and commercials. Amendment 382 is a property tax increase that will help fund our schools. Currently, Montgomery receives the lowest amount of local funds legally allowed by the state. If this tax is approved on November 3rd, MPS will generate an additional $33 million for our schools starting in 2023.

So how will MPS use the additional funds? We're going to invest in our schools! Our plans include but is not limited to the following:

  • Provide more educational opportunities for students, including expanded career technical education, Advanced Placement, art, music, and more
  • Increase support services for students
  • Attract and retain top educators and provide top-notch professional development
  • Ensure support staff have everything they need to be effective
  • Tackle the $250 million in deferred maintenance at our school buildings

Our investment in our schools will translate into an investment in the future of Montgomery County. Quality education is the bedrock of a thriving society, and as parents, you contribute to that every day. This funding increase will allow MPS to boost the positive impact we have on our students' lives. We hope that you will flip over your ballot and vote FOR MPS!

This communication is merely to provide you with information about the campaign in favor of the ad valorem tax increase. You are free to vote any way you choose. We hope that you will take this information into consideration when making your decision.
